Our Internet service offers blazing speeds: 1.5Mb/s downloads and 256kb/s uploads, thanks to our Ameritech ADSL connection.

Robert McLaughlin, President of ApplePickers (Indy's local MUG), notes in a recent newsletter: "...one of the things that bugged me a bit was the fact that we don't seem to do much as a club to promote the use of Macintosh computers in the lives of those around us. We have to start somewhere, and that is just what I did. I met Andrew Granger at our May meeting. After talking with him briefly, I discovered that he and his wife own a coffee shop at 11th and Alabama, the Corner Coffee. They have been interested in adding internet connectivity to their store but had been unable to due to the costs. How did we help them? At our June meeting, all proceeds collected from auction, combined with matching funds from the board, all added up to purchasing an Airport base station and card for the Corner Coffee! Now if you happen to be in the neighborhood with your Airport-enabled laptop, you will be able to surf the web and enjoy great coffee and dessert. Look for more information coming soon about the status of this installation and future offerings from the Corner Coffee."

Crossroad Pottery / Indiana Clay Company

Scott Frankenberger
2724 N 475 W
West Lafayette, IN 47906

dscottf@insightbb.com

As Crossroad Pottery, I have a small one-person production studio, with one part-time helper. I work primarily in porcelain, and produce mostly functional, colorful ware.

Also, as a side enterprse (as if I need more to do), I sell clay, raw materials, tools, equipment, and supplies in the form of Indiana Clay Company.

Recent purchase of an iMac, plus an opportunity to teach at Purdue University, has made me an insufferable techno-potter. Maybe this is good. My aging bones are less stressed in front of the computer. I'll probably get carpal tunnel either way. Continue to make around 4,000 pots and other items each year, plus occasional side projects. Hope to spend some time developing new glaze schemes this year.

Professional design solutions for all your creative needs from print, online and motion projects.

My first introduction to computers was a Macintosh over 10 years ago... and I took the "bite" when I began applying my art to computers since high school. Although, in my field, I tend to use both platforms (Mac & Win), my first pick is definitely the Mac because of its usability, reliability, software, accessories, and the visual appeal. I have a few close friends who have made the switch because of my experience... and they all said how proud they feel to belong to this silent underground club. They have made new connections simply by announcing, "Hey, you use a Mac too!" And that's cool because it doesn't have quite the same sting when said the other way :)

Recording/Production house and percussion instruction -- see writeup in August 10, 2006 issue of InTake Weekly:
"Not sure where to start? Ask somebody. While Adam Long runs Playground Productions' recording studio out of his home, the sound engineer also does a lot of consulting to help people (mostly bands) figure out what components they need to hit the ground running. From soundboards to software, it can be pretty expensive to make a mistake."

ripple FX is an Indianapolis-based music composition, recording and postscore house.

If it has anything to do with music, noise, ambiance - reception by the ears in general - we can create it.

We have ideas. We compose. We find the right guitarist, cellist, vocalist, orchestra or kazooist.

We produce it digitally in mono, stereo, 5.1 Surround or 64 discrete tracks if you'd like. We have the technology stuff to do it. Lots of it. Two studios of it.

We've posted audio for radio, TV, motion pictures, trade shows, even animatronic Roman statues in Las Vegas.

Visit us. We love to show it all off.

Sweetwater - Music Technology Direct

800/222-4700 phone

Your #1 Music Equipment Retailer on the Net You may or may not know that Sweetwater Sound got its start back in 1979 as a 4-track professional recording studio. At that time, we were recording albums, as well as composing jingles for area retailers. But we had the same problems that musicians around the world have had for decades: Where to find the products we needed at reasonable prices, plus dependable advice from sales people who actually knew what they were talking about.

Today, Sweetwater offers products from over 100 of the best names in the music business like Roland, Alesis, Tascam, Korg, Kurzweil and Digidesign. And just about all of the products we offer are in stock in our huge warehouse at all times.

Our sales engineers all have real world MIDI and studio experience, so they're familiar with all the latest hardware and software. They'll take the time to listen to your specific needs, then ask the right questions before recommending the perfect product to fill that need at a down-to-earth price. And in the unlikely event you ever need service on that item, our Technical Support department is factory authorized to do repairs on all the products we sell.

"Hey man...my name is Thom, and I play guitar for a band here in Indianapolis called The Elms. We're a bunch of local boys, but we signed a deal with Universal last summer, made a record called "THE CHESS HOTEL", and we released it nationwide a few weeks ago on May 2nd.

We're playing a few Indianapolis shows in about a month. One at The Canal downtown on the 4th of July (just before the fireworks), and another at the Broad Ripple Street Festival on July 22nd (w/ Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, Todd Snider, et al). Any chance you could come out to either to watch us play?

Thanks. Take it easy.
