Our Internet service offers blazing speeds: 1.5Mb/s downloads and 256kb/s uploads, thanks to our Ameritech ADSL connection.

Robert McLaughlin, President of ApplePickers (Indy's local MUG), notes in a recent newsletter: "...one of the things that bugged me a bit was the fact that we don't seem to do much as a club to promote the use of Macintosh computers in the lives of those around us. We have to start somewhere, and that is just what I did. I met Andrew Granger at our May meeting. After talking with him briefly, I discovered that he and his wife own a coffee shop at 11th and Alabama, the Corner Coffee. They have been interested in adding internet connectivity to their store but had been unable to due to the costs. How did we help them? At our June meeting, all proceeds collected from auction, combined with matching funds from the board, all added up to purchasing an Airport base station and card for the Corner Coffee! Now if you happen to be in the neighborhood with your Airport-enabled laptop, you will be able to surf the web and enjoy great coffee and dessert. Look for more information coming soon about the status of this installation and future offerings from the Corner Coffee."

The Center was founded in 1997 to help strengthen congregations in the central Indiana metropolitan area. Affiliated with the Alban Institute, a research, publishing, education, and consulting organization based in Bethesda, Maryland that provides resources for congregations nationwide. The Center is a gift to the greater Indianapolis area from Lilly Endowment Inc.

We are dedicated to helping Indianapolis-area congregations find solutions to their pressing practical problems. We do that by connecting them with excellent resources - both local and national. The Center also shares what we learn from our experience in Indianapolis with congregations across the country.

We work with individual congregations to address their specific needs. We do that by meeting with congregational leaders, listening to their concerns, developing work plans and then matching resources with needs. The Center also prints Resource Guides, listing the best resources available on various topics. An interactive version of these guides is available at www.congregationalresources.org. We also host educational events and workshops. And we publish Centerpiece, a quarterly newsletter with helpful information for congregations and leaders.

Any congregation in the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area can use the Center's services and/or register for its educational programs. We are happy to work with clergy, staff, and laity, as well as with denominational officials and other religious or community leaders.

Most Center services are offered to Indianapolis congregations without cost - thanks to Lilly Endowment's gift to the community. Our educational events and workshops usually have a modest registration fee to cover the cost of materials and meals during the events.

Open 8:30 to 4:30, M-F. We'd be happy to give you a tour of our office and introduce you to the resources we have available for your use. Or your might want to attend one our educational events. That's another good way to learn about the Center's work, meet staff, and take home resources for your congregation.

Meetup Day - Mac Users in Indianapolis

Meetup with other local Macintosh fanatics to talk about OSX, iBooks and Apple's latest ad campaign. Meets 7:00PM on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, providing there are enough people signed up in your city.

Meetup.com is a new, free service that organizes local gatherings about anything, anywhere. Meetups happen at local cafes (and other places) in 532 cities across 27 countries. Because there are people like you in your town. And a Meetup might be better than TV. (See a full list of topics people in Indianapolis are meeting about by clicking here!)

What is a Meetup?
It's a local gathering of a group of people brought together by a common interest. Real world, face-to-face, maybe over coffee or a beer.

Where are Meetups?
Meetups happen in 532 locales (cities, towns, areas) in 27 countries. At local cafŽs, bars, bowling alleys, donut shops, dog-friendly spots, videogame displays, and lots of other places. People vote on where their local Meetup will take place.

Does the Meetup happen over the Internet or in real life?
Real life, real local communities, real groups of people.

Do Meetups for a topic happen on the same day in every city?
Yes. This is one of the neatest things about Meetup. Of course, due to time zones, Meetups don't happen everywhere simultaneously, they simply happen at the stated time -- in the local time zone -- in each respective city.
